I recently came across a natural quinine recipe that I want to share. This recipe is easy to make and has so many health  benefits.

I made a batch and take a shot 1-2 times per week. If you start to feel like a cold or flu coming on, take a shot every day. The taste is rather bitter, so you can add some honey or sweetener if you choose to. I don’t mind it so I just shoot it down the hatch!

Its  made with grapefruit peels and lemon peels, it’s great for colds and flu and…wait for it….it’s also used as tonic for mixed drinks! It’s basically a natural quinine recipe. Yup, the stuff you can buy in the store, it’s tonic water, but without all the junk that is added!

Ingredients

3 organic lemons

3 organic grapefruit

Instructions

Rinse fruit well under running water, rinse especially well if not organic rubbing to get the wax and any residual pesticides off the skin. Wipe off with a paper towel.Use a knife to peel the skins off the grapefruit. When you get to the lemon, a trick to peel the skin off is to make a cut in the skin, the lemon should peel easily. Save the juice of the lemon to make some lemonade! Cut the peels into smaller pieces.Eat the delicious grapefruit.

Put all the peels in a large pot and add 3 cups of filtered water. Make sure the peels are fully covered with water.Cover with a lid. Once the mixture starts to boil, lower the heat to simmer and simmer for 3 hours with the lid on. After three hours turn off the heat and let it cool down with the lid still on. Once it’s completely cooled down, strain it.Transfer to a glass jar and store in fridge.
